Corbrook was established by a group of volunteers in 1950. It started as a therapeutic social and recreational program operating one half day per week, for a group of adults with cerebral palsy. The program soon expanded and individuals with other disabilities were admitted. The crafts made by the participants were sold to contribute towards the costs of the program.
Light packaging and assembly contracts were acquired in 1961, providing work opportunities for the participants. Gradually, the Work Program became a full-time one, allowing individuals with varying levels of abilities the opportunity to work in a supportive environment and gain incentive money. A variety of contract jobs and machinery were added, further expanding the work opportunities. The second location, originally named Scarbrook Enterprises, was opened in 1981 to address the vocational needs of people in Scarborough, Ontario.
The programs and services provided have continued to evolve to meet the needs of persons with challenges. Today we operate two locations where we provide employment services and other support services.
